Hank Green (the 2007 version) discussing not wanting to go to work -- even when you have a very cool job that you happen to like a decent amount -- feels like a very appropriate topic to revisit the second day of work following the end of a very long holiday break from work. As I am writing this, I, too, do not want to go to work, and that's just how it is. Perhaps it is a much more universal struggle than it so often seems.

Welcome back to Vlogbrothers Rewatch -- an ongoing series of articles in which I document my journey through every Vlogbrothers video uploaded to the YouTube channel (so far). Using this playlist, I am watching every video in chronological order starting from the very beginning. It's good to be in April (2007). It's January as I'm writing this -- much, much colder than April.

Not wanting to get up and do the thing you are obligated to do is a very relatable feeling to me. But it was oddly inspiring to hear Hank then go on to describe how despite not wanting to do the thing, he eventually got up and did the thing anyway. I didn't realize until sitting down to write this post how desperately I needed to hear that -- the story of someone else who didn't want to, but nevertheless did.

Perhaps this is the greatest benefit of going back to watch old videos on the internet that you have not seen in at least a decade. You gather new things from the old things because you are not the same person now that you were when you watched before. I had very little "going to work" experience when I saw this video the first time. It resonates so much more with me now.

Because even on those days we don't want to do it, often, we still do. And that's a victory worth celebrating no matter how small.
