You say thank you a lot when you're in the hospital -- and not just as a patient or the loved one of a patient, either. You also say it a lot when you are working in one (or you should). No one is required to work in health care. Those who are there are there by choice -- many of them after years of schooling and experience. You say thank you for anyone giving you their time. Especially patients, who are the ones who want to be there the least out of everyone. John Green was right when he said this -- and that's probably why the concept eventually ended up in one of his novels.

Welcome back to Vlogbrothers Rewatch! This is an ongoing series of articles in which I document my daily journey through every public upload to the Vlogbrothers YouTube channel. Using this playlist, I am going through every video in chronological order from the very beginning because it brings me joy. I'm not the first Nerdfighter to ever do this, and I won't be the last. But I quite enjoy bringing my perspective and personal experiences to this commentary. I hope you enjoy it too.

The book The Fault In Our Stars is drawn a lot from John's experiences working as a hospital chaplain. He has seen a lot of grief and has been with families in some of their worst moments. There have been a lot of books written about cancer, but one thing that makes this one unique is that you can tell the author isn't just making things up. He understands grief. He's seen a lot of it firsthand as well as in helping others.

Even though this video is coming from not a particularly great time, it's interesting to once again see the seeds planting themselves for a future story. It has already happened more than you might expect in these videos only three months in.
