Going back in time when you know how things eventually turn out is particularly fun when it's about books. Especially when the time is January of 2007 and John Green is talking about approaching a book deadline for a novel he hasn't yet named.

Hi! If you're new here, this is a fun and totally not at all necessary or sane series in which we're rewatching every Vlogbrothers video in order from the very beginning (using this playlist) for as long as I'm here and able to continue doing it! I'm a longtime Nerdfighter, and content creator, and am very good at figuring out how to write about things that bring me joy and make me think deeper about the world (while also, in most cases, getting paid for it).

In this video, John discusses the approaching deadline for a book that I'm assuming, knowing what I know about the long runway that is book publishing, would eventually become Paper Towns. If only John Green of January 2007 could have known that this book, and many other of his books, would eventually be adapted into movies and a TV show.

Knowing what little I know about John, that probably would have made reaching the deadline even more anxiety-inducing than meeting deadlines as a writer already is. But he did the thing! It all worked out in the end.

I'm truly having a good time on this rewatch adventure. It's entertaining on a lot of fronts, but it's also a fun game in which I try to remember when I first started watching Vlogbrothers as these videos came out and which ones I watched later for the very first time. I've forgotten a lot so far, and that just goes to show anything can feel like new again if you go long enough without experiencing it.
