Today's video is giving 2024 TikTok skit, and I'm not mad about it. It's interesting to me that this video format -- where one person on camera plays a variety of characters acting out a scene or scenario -- has either never gone out of fashion or has come back strong in the era of short-form video. Someone commented that Hank Green has never brought these characters back, and honestly, he should. I'll sign the petition.

Welcome (or welcome back) to Vlogbrothers Rewatch! This is an ongoing series in which I document my journey through rewatching every Vlogbrothers video on their YouTube channel, in order, from the very beginning. Using this playlist, I'm going through one video a day to see how much I remember (or don't) and appreciate the origins of some of my favorite humans on the internet.

The thing about earwax (I can't believe these are the things I'm writing about with my master's degree and over 10 years of journalism experience but here we are) is that it's necessary until it isn't. You have probably heard the mantra that too much of a good thing can eventually become a bad thing. That applies here. We need earwax, and for the most part we should try really hard not to remove it. But sometimes it becomes too much, and a doctor will do it safely for us.

Does anyone else think it's wild that we're still sticking cotton swabs in our ears in 2024 when it says directly on the packaging that we definitely shouldn't be doing that? I'm guilty, of course. Bad habits are hard to break, and I grew up doing it because my parents grew up doing it. We have to break this cycle. It's not good for us!

Leave it to Vlogbrothers (Brotherhood 2.0) to remind us of the important things, even nearly 18 years later.
