In which we finally know what that book is about (maybe).

Many people don't realize how long of a runway their actually is between when a book is "finished" and when it's officially published. At the start of these videos, John talked about finishing the first draft of a book that wouldn't come out for nearly a year and a half -- because that is how long it takes to edit, revise, and make the final preparations for a book to finally make it out into the world. (It takes even longer, of course, if you're not already a published novelist.)

I'm referring, of course, to the latest addition to my ongoing Vlogbrothers Rewatch series -- in which I rewatch (and write about) one Vlogbrothers video every day, in order from the very beginning, using this playlist. I'm a longtime Nerdfighter and writer, and it's no secret that this video in particular excited me a great deal.

We finally have confirmation, of course, that the book John had been alluding to in previous videos was in fact Paper Towns. I'm going to be honest -- I actually can't remember whether or not this was the first John Green book I ever read. Looking For Alaska is my favorite book of all time, but that doesn't mean it was the first of his that I read. I do think, however, that John being an author was just one of many reasons I first gravitated toward this channel in the late 2000s. I was an aspiring writer then. And ... look at me now? I'm still aspiring. We all are.

I love when John talks about his books. Even when he's giving away false plot points. People and the stories they're telling have always been fascinating to me. I'm sure he'll talk a lot more about this book, as much as he can, in future videos.
