It's Day 3 of our Vlogbrothers rewatch! It's the origin of the Happy Dance! And begins with Hank Green sledding down a hill, which I wasn't expecting but also wasn't upset about.

If you're new here, hello! I'm embarking on an epic journey to start rewatching Vlogbrothers videos from the very beginning, using this playlist (if you want to join me). One video each day for as long as the internet exists (or until I catch up, whichever comes first).

This video marks the first mention of Katherine (indirectly) and is, of course, the first-ever display of "the" Happy Dance. What an era. Going back to these early videos always amazes me because neither Hank nor John had yet found their "YouTube voice" and are sort of just quietly mumbling into their cameras. But so many of us also did that! Me! I'm talking about me. I deleted those early videos, you'll never see them. (Yes, I regret that.)

This YouTube era was, admittedly, filled with a lot of different people trying a lot of different things -- much like they are now, just on a much smaller scale back then. It's still so early in this experiment, but you can already start to see some of the foundational elements of what will eventually become Vlogbrothers (then Brotherhood 2.0) forming. These are just two guys going about their lives, trying to figure out how to connect through video. But it's already so much more than that.

There's no community surrounding these videos yet. They didn't have hundreds of thousands of views. Imagine if they'd just stopped here, went on to live their separate lives. Imagine if we never got to know them or watch their bond grow as strong as it is today.

I'm already getting emotional and it's only Day 3, so this is going to be fun.
