And thus, Nerdfighteria was born.

I had no idea this video was coming so soon, but it's here. This is quite literally the most important video on the Vlogbrothers channel -- the one that originates the term "Nerdfighter" as we know it today. The one in which an entire fandom was born.

(I actually did not realize that the arcade game John is playing in the video is called Aero Fighters and that he misread the title -- to be fair, it's a very hard to read font. But it just makes the whole thing so much better.)

But wait -- let me explain who I am and what I am doing here. I'm a longtime Nerdfighter and miraculously a professional content creator (of sorts), and I'm rewatching every Vlogbrothers video in order from the beginning, one per day, using this playlist. I'm doing this for a few reason: one, because it's never not a good time to seek joy in times of uncertainty and great change. And two, Vlogger Beat is the perfect place to explore the history of the social internet, content creation, and the evolution of online fandom through rewatching old videos.

This video, in addition to being the origin point of Nerdfighteria in name, is also the first -- and certainly not the last -- video in which John finds himself in an airport. Many John in an airport videos will follow. But this one is special. This one is significant.

So many things had to line up perfectly for this moment to occur. It's one of the shortest videos on the channel, and yet, it is possibly the most important video John had ever made. Nerdfighteria, in name, exists because of Aero Fighters. Imagine how much would be different if that game title had been in any other font.
