"I'm not going to be good at this." And yet, he persisted!

One of the best things about this video is that it's not even technically on the Vlogbrothers channel -- really the easiest way to find it is through this playlist I'm using for the rewatch. Speaking of, I should probably open with what we're doing here.

What we're doing here -- me, hi! -- is rewatching every Vlogbrothers video from the beginning, for no reason other than it's probably going to be fun. Today is the first John video (ever), in whcih we're immediately introduced to a surprising amount of Nerdfighteria lore.

This includes, of course, the first mention of "The Yeti," as well as John's first suggestion of challenge videos. Strawberry Hill makes its debut (is that video still up? One way to find out). This video is barely two minutes long, but it's absolutely filled with gems.

Watching this video back now, I'm remembering that both Green brothers were younger than I am now when they started all this. Also, to hear Hank referred to as a "web designer and environmental activist" made me do a double-take. So much has changed in the last 18 years. Except for the fact that both are still writers, of course. (It was interesting to hear John refer to himself as a writer when he was, at this point, a published author.)

I cannot wait to continue with this series. It's alreaedy been the nostalgia trip of a lifetime to start revisiting these videos again. I'm a content creator today because these videos first showed me that anyone can make anything on the internet. Things may be a lot different now than they used to be, but that just makes all this even more interesting to return to.

I'll be back tomorrow with more video thoughts.
