Let's talk about cheese.

Fun fact: Kraft Singles, or the more generic American cheese, isn't actually cheese? Singles contain less than half of the required amount of cheese curds to be officially considered "real" cheese. That's why, if you look at the ingredients list for this and similar products, you'll see something like "pasteurized processed cheese food" on the label. It doesn't look, smell, or taste like cheese because technically, according to the FDA, it isn't!

And if you're wondering why the first paragraph of this Vlogbrothers recap contains a brief explanation of what Kraft Singles are made of, welcome! It's relevant, I swear! This is Vlogbrothers Rewatch, where I'm watching every video on their channel (using this playlist) starting from the very beginning, in order, either until I get caught up to current videos or the internet implodes. Who's to say for sure which one will come first?

Today's video features Hank Green's first (and surprisingly not the last) internet rant about cheese slices like Kraft Singles not tasting or acting like real cheese. Hence my explanation at the beginning of this article. I'm very passionate about food and feeling good while we eat it (it could have been my career, in another life), and here's what I have to say to 2007 Hank: If it feels wrong, don't eat it!

Can we take a second to admire how many of these very early Vlogbrothers thumbnails just end up being very close-up shots of their faces, since this was before you could add custom thumbnails to YouTube videos? It's a product of its time in so many ways.

More punishment discussion here, and I'm both delighted and terrified to admit that I actually don't remember who suffered the first punishment or what the punishment was. There's one easy way to find out, though.
