Today is the day I realized that I could watch sped-up videos of people building houses out of cards for a stupid amount of time. This is probably one of those niche video types on TikTok, like those soap cutting videos or the satisfying videos of people power washing decks. I'm not going to look it up now because I'm chronically easily distracted and I would never finish writing this if I stopped now. But let me know if you find any good card house building accounts to follow.

If you're just joining us, welcome to my day-by-day Vlogbrothers rewatch, where I'm watching every Vlogbrothers video in order from the very beginning (using this playlist), one per day until I catch up to current videos or the internet implodes. Whichever comes first. I'm doing this because I'm notorious for making bad decisions that are fun for me but completely unnecessary.

It's Day 13, and we're apparently learning the superior way to build houses out of cards. Do I own a deck of cards? Now this is a question worth exploring.

Again, it's quite mesmerizing to watch a house of cards being built. Unfortunately it was not meant to last, and that still feels like a tragedy even nearly 18 years after its initial demise. But it's fine. Its existence has been forever preserved thanks to the power of the internet. Assuming everything on YouTube remains online forever. These days, who really knows anymore?

I like that in 2007 we could watch someone play with misprinted business cards and it didn't have to be deeper than that, and in 2024 many of us still seek out such content for comfort. Many things on the internet have changed, but some things never do -- and that's it's own form of comfort.
