Vlogbrothers rewatch, Day 10: January 12
By Meg Dowell
I currently have "Seasons of Love" stuck in my head, but instead of counting how many minutes are in one year, I'm imagining it asks how many seconds are in a single minute as a commentary on how, like me, John Green cannot successfully perform math under pressure. Or at least he couldn't in 2007. Who's to say he hasn't practiced his numerical craft?
We are officially 10 days into our full Vlogbrothers rewatch (and by we, I mean me). Using this playlist, I'm going through one video a day, in order from the very beginning, for more reasons than I can count. Mostly because I'm seeking joy in times of despair, but also because Nerdfighteria is an important fandom to me and I think it's time I dive back in, headfirst, with a helmet of course.
Today we have another video largely focused on punishments, or rather, discussion of potential future punishments. At this point punishments had only been established for missing an upload, but other parameters will arise in the not so distant future of the progression of the channel. All I have to say is "wax" and you might know where all this is going.
It's actually one of my biggest fears that we'll go to pick up our Christmas cards and have someone else's cards instead of ours. I'd never do it on purpose, so I suppose it would be the perfect punishment for someone with a major fear of picking up the wrong cards from Walmart. You could never punish me with a book though. I'll always say yes to books.
What I'm learning the most so far in this series is that a Vlogbrothers video can inspire you to write just about anything as long as you're willing to be open and honest about the trivial things that keep you up at night with worry.
