YouTube creator Nikocado Avocado fooled his entire audience

YouTuber Nikocado Avocado is calling his most recent endeavor a "social experiment" after revealing he lost 250 pounds without his millions of subscribers noticing.
In his latest video "Two Steps Ahead," the mukbang creator revealed a dramatic transformation compared to his most recent videos. He clarified that all the videos he has been uploading over the past few years were not filmed in real time.
Instead, the past two years' worth of videos were pre-recorded to hide what was really going on behind the scenes. In reality, Nik pre-recorded that content ahead of time, uploading it video by video, as he focused on something else: his health.
"I edited the videos so that they would appear recent," he told NBC News, "allowing me to focus on healing my body behind the scenes.”
The content creator's weight had been the subject of many online conversations as his subscriber base grew (4.2 million on YouTube and counting), and he mentions in the video above how, in a way, his decision to put his health first was a response to strangers' unacceptable behavior toward him on the internet because of how he looked.
“People are the most messed-up creatures on the entire planet, and yet I’ve still managed to stay two steps ahead of everyone," he said in the video. "The joke’s on you.”
Mukbang is a popular type of online video content featuring people eating large amounts of food in front of a camera, either live or pre-recorded, for others to view. The videos clearly impacted Nik's physical health in a negative way. But it seems the negative emotional impact of strangers' reactions to his appearance largely motivated his choice to prioritize his health.
Two years ago, Nik uploaded a video that was, unkown to his millions of subscribers, the beginning of his healing journey. Very few knew at the time what it meant. But two years later, he's continuing to make the content he wants to make, doing so in a body he feels confident in.
