Why posting YouTube videos is still worth it
By Meg Dowell
YouTube often seems over-saturated these days with hours upon hours of new content going up on the platform every single day. So you might find yourself wondering: Is it still worth it to post there if so many other content creators are doing it?
Here's why the answer is a definite "yes."
YouTube is still the best platform for longer videos
Short-form video content has grown significantly in popularity due to apps like TikTok and Instagram. But that does not mean longer videos aren't worth making. In fact, many people prefer longer videos -- and YouTube remains the best platform available for uploading such content.
Short videos scratch a certain itch and get a lot of views very quickly, but longer videos, such as those you upload onto YouTube, lead to long-term growth and sustainability.
YouTube is the perfect training ground for creators
Have you ever watched someone's YouTube videos and wondered how they're so ... good? If you look back far enough on any channel that's been around for a while, you might notice that most of them started out making videos that weren't great. But they used YouTube to teach themselves how to be better, and that has largely worked out in their favor.
There are YouTubers who have become filmmakers; performers; artists of all kinds. Many of them have the opportunities they do largely because of the content they started posting on YouTube. The only way to learn is to practice.
You never know what YouTube could lead to
At this point, there are countless stories of YouTube creators who have found massive success outside of the platform because of their videos. It really is true what they say: If you never try, you'll never make it somewhere other than where you are right now.
Every YouTube video you upload is a potential opportunity to make your dreams come true -- whatever that specifically might look like for you. Plus, the more you do it, the better you'll get at making videos in your own personal style that's totally unique to you.
