TikTok's viral fluffy Coke drink: Is it worth the hype?

Like any sweet treat, it should be enjoyed in small amounts.

Food combinations that shouldn't go together (but somehow absolutely do) are instant TikTok gold. The latest two-ingredient drink, which went viral on the platform earlier this month, is proof that any drink can be good if you dare to be the first one to taste it.

The drink, called simply "fluffy Coke," is nothing more than a glass of Coca-Cola lined with marshmallow fluff. That must be awful, right? But to many, it's not.

As the original TikTok video demonstrates, all you have to do to make the drink is line a glass with marshmallow fluff (you should be able to find containers of it at your local supermarket), fill the glass halfway with ice, and pour in your Coke until the glass is full. Give it a little mix and you're ready to drink (ideally with a straw).

The marshmallow fluff gives the Coke a slight "fluffy" quality while somehow making it even sweeter, which is what has drawn most fluffy Coke supporters to the cause. Theoretically, you could even fluff up other carbonated drinks and compare the taste. Pepsi? Sprite? Anything is possible.

Despite the unique consistency of the drink, the added sweetness and sugar content could be a potential concern for some. One 20-ounce bottle of regular Coke already contains 65 grams of added sugars per serving. Add in 50 more grams of sugar per serving from the marshmallow fluff is a lot of excess sugar in one drink.

But we're not here to spoil anyone's fun. A cold, sweet drink -- especially on a hot day -- can be quite refreshing. You could try the drink with a diet soda variety if you can tolerate the taste of artificial sweeteners (many cannot). But really all you need to do in order to enjoy this drink safely is to not drink too much of it.

Like any sweet treat, you absolutely deserve it! Just don't overdo it.
