The 2024 U.S. presidential election draws nearer, and even though the job certainly isn't an easy one, MrBeast has floated the possibility of giving it a try.

James "Jimmy" Donaldson (aka MrBeast) is well-known for his viral YouTube videos and endless philanthropic efforts. He says that if he could take things even further and enter the U.S. race for president, he would. The problem is, he's only 26.

"If we lower the age to run for president," he posted on X July 6, "I'll jump in the race." The post has over 30 million views and counting.

The youngest a person can be to run for president of the United States is 35. This has been one of the prerequisites for presidential candidates in the country since Washington became president. Additionally, candidates must be a natural-born citizen of the United States and have been a resident for at least 14 years minimum.

MrBeast meets all the requirements except for the minimum age restriction. There has never been a successful effort to lower the minimum age one can run for president, but that doesn't mean it won't change sometime in the future. Whether or not MrBeast will be the driving force that finally brings the minimum age to a real debate is unpredictable.

The most-subscribed YouTuber on the platform with nearly 300 million subscribers on his channel, MrBeast has gained the kind of following that could potentially support him in a daunting endeavor such as this.

While he has gained and maintained droves of support for his philanthropy -- such as his recent video where he built 100 homes in El Salvador and Jamaica -- he also receives a lot of criticism for these videos. While they do appear to be genuine and help real people in need, many online accounts question why he turns his charitable deeds into content to make more money.

MrBeast probably won't be stepping into the U.S. presidential race this cycle, but that does give him time to consider whether or not he's serious about running in the future. Perhaps we'll see him in the running in the 2036 election.
