Eugene Lee Yang says goodbye to beloved dog Emma
By Meg Dowell
Eugene Lee Yang recently said goodbye to one of his dogs, Emma, who had been part of his life for a total of 13 years.
The former online content creator and soon-to-be author posted a heartfelt farewell to Emma on X (Formerly Twitter) on Friday thanking her for the life-changing presence she held in his life and the lives of those close to him.
"For the past 13 years, you've been our best girl," part of the post said. "Your first pet as an adult is more consequential than can be expressed in words ... Thank you for shaping our lives, Emma. You'll be missed, but never forgotten."
Lee Yang was a founding member of The Try Guys and formally announced his official departure from the group in May 2024. Upon announcing he was leaving the team, he made an effort to clarify that his decision had nothing to do with any ill feelings toward his creative partners Keith Habersberger and Zach Kornfeld.
In his emotional video explaining his reasons for choosing to part ways with The Try Guys, he said that choosing to leave had more to do with his desire to pursue creative projects that would better fulfill him. He also expressed a desire to step away from the spotlight in the form of regular video appearances on YouTube and the group's digital subscription service 2nd try.
The actor is also working on a novel, currently set to release sometime in 2025. He is also working on other projects, and revealed in the above video that he had been putting all this on hold to stay with The Try Guys after suddenly losing a longtime member and quickly rebranding in 2022.
Despite all this, he took to social media in a vulnerable moment to let his followers know about losing Emma. She and his other two dogs appeared in many Try Guys videos over the years, and were valued members of the "Try Pets" family.
Responses to Lee Yang's post were just as heartfelt as the post itself, with his followers showing love and support, many showing empathy having lost their own best furry friends.
He and his partner Matt share two remaining dogs, Pesto and Kimbop.
