A virtual Esther Day party is happening this Saturday
By Meg Dowell
Celebrate Esther Day virtually with a digital live stream featuring special guests, music, and so much more.
Taking place on Saturday August 3, 2024, the Esther Day Virtual Party 2024 will allow guests to digitally come together to celebrate the memory of Esther Earl, who started an internet-wide movemenet of familial and platonic love before her passing at 16 years old in 2010.
The virtual event is free to attend with the purchase of a digital ticket that does not cost anything. However, you do have the option to donate $5 when obtaining your ticket, which goes to support This Star Won't Go Out, the nonprofit organization founded in Esther Earl's honor. The organization supports families dealing with the many hardships associated with childhood cancer.
Party guests will have the opportunity to ask author John Green questions. They will also receive a recipe for an individual birthday cake (because who wants to share birthday cake?) and more.
Esther Day began in August 2010 when John promised Esther he and his brother Hank would help her memory live on after she was gone. Esther specifically said she wanted the Vlogbrothers to make videos about friendship and love, something she deeply valued throughout her life. Similar celebrations of her life and legacy continue in events like the one occurring this weekend, and will likely continue for a very long time.
Esther Day is a day dedicated to celebrating the love shared between family and friends, even when it's hard to say "I love you" out loud. The holiday continues to be celebrated because of the warmth and joy it brings to people around the world, just as Esther brought such to others throughout her short life.
Grab your free Esther Day Virtual Party 2024 ticket and prepare to spread the love. Details for viewing the live stream are delivered digitally with your ticket.
