Starting a YouTube channel can feel both exciting and intimidating. But you shouldn't let your fear or anxiety stop you from making your dreams come true!

In fact, you should start uploading to YouTube today, whether you feel ready to do so or not. Here's why.

1. You might have a unique perspective no one has heard before

It may seem like every possible YouTube channel and video has already been uploaded to the internet. But I'm going to give you some advice I've heard in the context of writing a book: Your story itself may not be totally original, but the way you tell it is wholly unique.

Regardless of what you make videos about, you're approaching it with your own perspective, life experiences, and level of interest. No one else is intentionally going to make a video exactly like yours, because you're the one who's making it.

2. It's totally free

You don't actually need fancy equipment or expertise to start uploading videos to YouTube. Eventually if you want, you might be able to work your way up to better tech, items for a more aesthetically pleasing video background, and more.

But you can upload a video today without spending any money at all. Much like TikTok, you can record yourself, or a background or object with voiceover if you aren't comfortable being in front of the camera. All that matters is that you make a video others might find interesting.

3. The only way to get better is to start trying

Many people hold off on starting YouTube channels because they are afraid they won't be good at making videos at first. What you may not realize is that the most efficient way to get better at something you have never tried before is to do it -- even if it scares you.

There are a lot of bad videos on the internet. Maybe some of yours might fall into that category. But with each new video you upload, you are going to learn and grow and slowly get better. It will take time, but you've got this!
