It's Election Day in the United States, meaning the winners of the presidential and other races will be decided soon. Voting is currently in progress, and many may be turning to social media and their go-to content creators for comfort, escapism, and realtime updates.

Philip DeFranco, longtime news and pop culture content creator on YouTube, will be hosting live election coverage this evening on his YouTube channel. If you are looking for somewhere to watch coverage, perhaps with a familiar face, this may be a place for you to tune in.

Anyone who follows DeFranco doesn't have to wonder who he's hoping will win the election, and that's the draw for many of his followers. He's known for both sharing factual news and supplementing it with his own commentary. Many find that refreshing, compared to more traditional news outlets.

While not every content creator online will be following the election results and covering them live, there are likely to be plenty who will post content or go live to distract their viewers (and themselves) from what's unfolding -- that, or create a sense of community around widespread feelings of anxiety and uncertainty both among U.S. citizens and those outside the country.

"I'm not even American and I'm freaking out," one comment on DeFranco's stream reads. Plenty of commenters are announcing they have already voted or are planning on voting later today. All in the comments section eagerly await the start of the stream.

The description of the live event promises that "we will likely be live for 6-12 hours" depending on how results unfold. In the past, some election results aren't actually called officially on Election Day. This could drag out well into the early hours of the morning.

Live coverage begins at 6:30 PM ET/3:30 PM PT here.
