New John Green book now available for pre-order
By Meg Dowell
Author and long-time content creator John Green has written another book -- but this one is a little different than his previous, highly successful novels.
Everything Is Tuberculosis is a story about humanity's fight against eradicating tuberculosis across the globe. It tells the story of a real person John met in 2019, but also dives deep into the science and history of the disease over time and its impact on the world and the people living in it.
John Green has been an advocate for global healthcare initiatives for quite some time, using his online presence to raise awareness and funding for organizations that save lives and prevent future disease. Many of the funds his company raises every year are dedicated exclusively to improving the health of people around the world.
The author has discussed, at surface level, his work on this book and the subject matter in his Vlogbrothers videos here and there, especially earlier this year when he took an internet hiatus to focus on his mental health, largely so that he could finish writing the book that now has a cover and release date.
Green is best known for novels like The Fault in Our Stars and Turtles All the Way Down, but he also released a collection of essays called The Anthropocene Reviewed, based on a podcast where he "rated" various human experiences out of 5 stars.
Everything this author has ever written has changed lives in one way or another, and there's no doubt this book will have a similar impact. It's likely that many of his longtime fans -- myself included -- will soon find themselves reading a book about tuberculosis in 2025 when we may have otherwise never considered it. We'll likely learn something -- and isn't that the most important thing of all?
Everything Is Tuberculosis: The History and Persistence of Our Deadliest Infection releases March 18, 2025, and is available for pre-order now.
