jacksepticeye teases new video game
By Harvey Hamer
Sean McLoughlin, aka online creator jacksepticeye, has been working behind the scenes with developer Kyle Horwood to create a surveillance-based videogame within his ALTRVERSE, specifically the IRIS facility. For those unfamiliar with Sean's multiverse, be sure to check out Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 of our guide to everything so far.
The Overnight Watch's release date is still tbd, but the free game is available to wishlist now on Steam. The listing gives us a teaser trailer, screenshots and some further information about the gameplay:
"Join The Overnight Watch Program at the IRIS facility, where your vigilance is everything. Monitor eerie rooms, keep a close eye on ALTRs, and ensure nothing goes wrong. Missing ALTR? Report a containment breach immediately. How sharp are your instincts? Ready to take the test?"
- The Overnight Watch Steam page
"Welcome Subject/Employee to 'The Overnight Watch'. This experiment/exam will take a total of 5 business days to complete.
- the game's About section
Your objective during this experiment/exam is to watch the cameras and report anything that you find out of the ordinary.
Each day you will be pushed even further by watching more rooms and having to keep an eye on the Power Containment Drive. Failure is NOT an option.
Do you 'IRIS SUBJECT NUMBER' wish to apply to 'The Overnight Watch'?
Please note:
IRIS will not take responsibility for a subject's death during this test. "
On the Steam page, the words 'Subject' and 'experiment' are crossed through, hinting not all is as it seems for our protagonist's duty within the facility.

Sean also shared the teaser on his channel:
As well as a glimpse into the game's graphics, we see IRIS's Power Containment Drive and canteen fully realised for the first time after 2022's THE IRIS PROJECT livestream. The hallway and Security Room from that stream's final moments are also visible, as is a brand new location, a Board Room, perhaps a reference to Sean's original Overnight Watch section of his 2017 charity stream.
I.R.I.S is well known to fans of jacksepticeye's multiverse, a shady organisation 'Inspiring Research of Impossible Sciences'. For over two years they've had a lore-filled twitter presence, which kicked fully into gear in the week counting down to this Halloween, two years after we first saw IRIS in live action. Below are a series of redacted documents drawing us further into the world of the game.
ALTR 5914 has been mentioned on posters within IRIS in 2022, referred to as a 'time thief'. And this document was released on twitter around that same time, though has since been deleted. Fan network spediceynews compared the documents and removed the remaining redactions to reveal the missing phrases as 'difficult to control' and 'blood stops moving through the veins'. No wonder there are posters around the facility warning people about this object. The Overnight Watch should reveal more of this ALTR's, and others', secrets.
The blacked out faces of the poster do not appear on the Steam page. Perhaps this is censoring an ALTR at work. The IRIS account also shared the teaser trailer on Halloween with the caption 'Something is coming...'. It's just a waiting game until we see what's fully in store. Keep watch.
