Influencer Dominique Brown has died at the age of 34. She was best known as an online Disney influencer and content creator, and was the co-founder of Black Girl Disney -- a community built to celebrate Black girls and their love of all things Disney.
According to People, Brown suffered a severe allergic reaction last week from food served at a holiday event. She did not survive. Reportedly, Brown's allergies were communicated to event staff prior to the incident. Brown was also directly informed that the food served to her did not contain the allergens that would be a threat to her life. She was promised that the food was safe for her to consume, but that turned out not to be the case.
An independent investigation is reportedly underway to determine the events that led to Brown consuming the food she was told would not harm her. When someone has a deadly food allergy, they are typically quite cautious and persistent about making sure they don't unintentionally consume foods that are unsafe for them. Clearly Brown made the effort to keep herself safe, but either a miscommunication or mistake along the way unnecessarily cost her her life.
Brown's kindness, love, and enthusiasm for those around her -- and of course, for all things Disney -- shone through in everything she did. From her interactions with others to the content she created, followers and fellow influencers alike have had nothing but good things to say about her.
In the aftermath of the family's tragic loss, Brown's brother posted to the online comminity: "“I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to her social media fam for showing her so much love and light. Disney did bring her joy, but it was unparalleled that she found a community who loved her and Disney as much as she did."
